Sustainable Solution Description
Labelmaster is committed to sustainability – both in how we operate our business and the products we offer that enable our customers to establish more sustainable supply chains.
As part of our commitment to society, our people, and the environment, Labelmaster completes a thorough assessment of our business sustainability practices every year through EcoVadis, the global standard for business sustainability ratings. The EcoVadis assessment includes 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. In our latest rating, completed in January 2024, we earned a Committed badge.
Labelmaster continually evaluates and expands our environmental sustainability decisions to reduce our carbon footprint and carefully choose suppliers that support those efforts. This includes:
Product Innovation
As the leading provider of products and services for the safe and compliant transport of dangerous goods, Labelmaster helps protect the environment by enabling businesses to store and ship hazardous materials safely and securely. Our commitment to sustainability can be found in the products we develop and sell, including:
- PVC-free placarding products.
- We recently introduced the Capsuloc™ plastic hazmat shipping container as a replacement to traditional metal paint can shippers. Capsuloc is reusable, fully recyclable and 49.4% more sustainable than traditional metal can shippers. Capsuloc does not dent, so there is no waste during the assembly and handling process, and twice as many units can fit in a truck, which reduces fuel consumption, emissions and double handling with a fork truck.
- Our Obexion-branded battery packaging for shipping and storing lithium batteries is fully recyclable and reusable. What’s more, it prevents damage to the environment in the event that batteries go into thermal runaway while in transit (battery fires are notoriously more difficult to extinguish than typical fires) and significantly reduces toxic gas.
- Lifoam Envirocooler™ EVG™ offers shippers a more sustainable alternative to traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam coolers without sacrificing convenience and performance.
- Envirocooler EVG uses a bio-based accelerant to break down in a landfill in less than four years without leaving behind microplastics, compared to EPS shipping products which are not biodegradable and take hundreds of years to decompose, and is Recycle 6 where EPS is accepted.
- With a human impact 37.2% less than EPS, Envirocooler EVG provides a simple, tangible way for organizations to support their Scope 3 emissions goals. Consider this: using 1K EVG coolers instead of EPS foam would save X tons of C02.
- Our digital regulatory publications and technology reduces the need for paper for printed books as well as emissions that occur during shipping.
- Our free UN packaging assessments enable our customers to upgrade to newer, lighter and more sustainable packaging solutions which are better for the environment.
- PVCF material as a replacement for vinyl
- We compare and provide alternative label and placard materials for specific sustainable solutions including:
- Teslin® as a replacement for vinyl and plastics
